Sofa Disposal Dublin: Rubbish Taxi Makes Furniture Clear-Outs Easy

Got an old couch that’s seen better days? Rubbish Taxi helps Dublin homes and businesses get rid of bulky furniture fast, without the stress of van hire, dump queues, or awkward stair carries. We’re a licensed waste collection team based in Dublin, and sofa disposal is one of our most-requested jobs.

What Rubbish Taxi Actually Does

Rubbish Taxi is a same-day and next-day rubbish removal service covering all of Dublin and the surrounding counties. Think of us as your on-demand crew for anything too big for the bin.

For sofa disposal, here’s how it works:

  1. You book: Send us a photo on WhatsApp or book online. Tell us size, location, and if there are stairs or tight corners.
  2. We quote upfront: Fixed price, no hourly rates. The quote includes labour, loading, transport, and responsible disposal.
  3. We collect: Two uniformed crew arrive in our sign-written truck. We protect floors and door frames, do all the lifting, and sweep up after.
  4. We dispose responsibly: Sofas are brought to licensed recycling facilities. Fabric, foam, wood, and metal are separated. Nothing goes to illegal dump sites. We’re fully insured and waste permitted.

Why clients choose us for sofas:

  • No dismantling needed: We can take whole 3-seater, L-shape, and recliner sofas. If it fits through the door, we’ll take it.
  • Apartment friendly: Used to working in Dublin city centre flats with no lift. No extra stair charges.
  • Speed: Most collections done within 24 hours. Urgent landlord turnover? We do same-day slots.
  • One item or full house: Just one sofa? Grand. Clearing a whole apartment? We’ll discount the load.

How We Help Different Clients

Homeowners & Renters
Moving house, upgrading furniture, or dealing with a damaged sofa after a leak. You don’t need to borrow a trailer or bribe friends to help. We show up, remove it, and you get your space back that day.

Landlords & Estate Agents
End-of-tenancy clear-outs are our bread and butter. Tenants leave behind sofas, beds, tables. We provide invoices and waste transfer notes for your records. Book us between tenants and list the property faster.

Offices & Commercial
Replacing reception seating, hotel lobby furniture, or staff room couches. We work after-hours to avoid disruption and can handle bulk collections of 10+ items. WEEE-compliant if your sofa has electric recliner parts.

Retailers
Bought a new suite but the shop only offers “old item collected on delivery” for like-for-like? If you need 2+ old sofas gone, or the timing doesn’t work, we fill the gap.

Advice Before You Book Sofa Disposal

1. Check if it’s reusable
If the sofa is still in decent condition with no rips, major stains, or broken springs, consider donation first. Charities like St Vincent de Paul and Enable Ireland collect furniture, but they’re strict on quality and usually need 1-2 weeks notice. If it’s urgent or worn, removal is the better route.

2. Measure your exit path
95% of sofas come out whole, but tight turns in period houses can be tricky. Measure the narrowest door or stairwell. Send us photos of tricky spots. We bring tools to remove feet or doors if needed, at no extra cost.

3. Watch out for hidden costs with “man with a van”
Unlicensed operators often quote low, then add fuel, labour, or “dump fees” on arrival. Always ask for a Waste Collection Permit number. Ours is available on request and we issue receipts. Illegal dumping traces back to the homeowner.

4. Book ahead for apartments
If you’re in a complex with parking restrictions, tell us. We can schedule around management company rules and bring a smaller truck if needed for underground car parks.

5. Combine items to save
Our trucks charge by volume, not per item. If you’ve also got a mattress, table, or old TV, add it to the load. It’s usually only €20-€40 more to clear half a room once we’re there.

Other Furniture Removal We Cover

Sofas are bulky, but they’re not the only problem items we handle. Here’s what else Rubbish Taxi takes:

FAQ: Sofa Disposal Dublin

How much does sofa disposal cost in Dublin?
For a standard 2-3 seater from a ground floor house, expect €80-€120. L-shaped corner sofas or collections with stairs are €120-€180. You get an exact price before we arrive. No cash surprises.

Do you take sofa beds?
Yes. They’re heavier because of the metal frame, so they cost slightly more, usually €140-€200. Tell us it’s a sofa bed when booking so we bring the right crew.

Can you collect this evening or on Sunday?
We run 7 days, 7am-8pm. Same-day slots depend on truck availability. Sundays and bank holidays have limited slots, so book early.

What happens to the sofa after you collect it?
We’re legally required to bring waste to licensed facilities. Sofas are stripped: metal goes to scrap, wood is chipped, fabrics and foam go to energy recovery or specialist recycling. We divert over 85% from landfill.

Do I need to be home?
If the sofa is outside, in a driveway, or building management can give us access, you don’t need to be there. For apartments, someone usually needs to let us in. We can do contactless with photo confirmation.

Will you take other rubbish with the sofa?
Absolutely. Bags of general waste, old carpets, broken toys, garden waste. Just list it when booking so we quote accurately. We can’t take hazardous waste like paint, chemicals, or asbestos.

Is Rubbish Taxi insured?
Yes, fully insured for public liability and goods in transit. All crew are Garda vetted. We’re Dublin City Council compliant.

Achieve Crystal-Clear Car Windows with These Simple Steps

Are your car windows perpetually smudged and bug-splattered, begging for attention every time you hop in? Fear not; achieving sparkling clean windows is simpler than you think, taking no more than ten minutes of your time. Not only does this enhance safety, but it also adds a touch of sophistication to your ride.

1. Start with Vacuuming: Begin by vacuuming your car’s interior last, ensuring any dirt or debris accumulated during cleaning other parts of your car is removed from the windows’ vicinity. Pay attention to areas around the wiper blades, using a vacuum hose or your hands.

2. Clean the Exterior First: Work on the outside of the windows, starting with the front and back windshields. Opt for shaded spots to prevent glass cleaners from evaporating too quickly. Dust the windows with a dry rag to eliminate loose pollen and grime, preventing smearing during the cleaning process.

3. Use the Right Cleaner: Choose a commercial glass cleaner designed for auto glass to prevent damage to tint jobs or rubber seals. Follow the cleaner’s instructions, whether spraying it directly on the windshield or using a sponge. Wipe the windows with a microfiber cloth to eliminate streaks.

4. Spot Clean Stubborn Stains: For tough stains, use commercial cleaning products or household items like baking soda or isopropyl alcohol. Soapy water with Dawn dish soap can also be effective. Rinse and dry the windows after using any cleaning solution.

5. Side Windows Require Attention: Roll the side windows down to clean the top portions nestled inside the rubber seal, both inside and outside. Allow the cleaning solution to air dry or wipe the tops of the windows with a microfiber rag before rolling them up. Wipe the rest of the exterior in either a side-to-side or up-and-down motion.

6. Clean the Interior: Enter the car to clean the interior windows, starting with the front windshield. Use angled microfiber windshield cleaners or get creative with a shower squeegee wrapped in a solution-soaked rag. Wipe the sides from top to bottom, opposite to the exterior direction.

7. Don’t Forget Windshield Wipers: Use the same glass cleaner meant for automotive glass to wipe down windshield wiper blades. Cleaning the blades ensures they don’t transfer dirt back onto the windshield.

8. Tackle Hard Water Spots: If hard water spots persist, create a DIY solution with distilled water, vinegar, and rubbing alcohol. Spray this mixture on spots, wipe clean, and polish the windows with a dry microfiber rag.
